Yearbook Creator FAQ’s (Frequently Asked Questions)


This section is an excellent resource for quick answers to the most commonly asked questions. Below is a list of questions and answers that covers almost all the topics that our customers and clients generally ask.

When you’re using Yearbook Alive Creator you’re never on your own. Our priority is to make sure you enjoy and have success creating your schools yearbook.

Questions about the software:

Q: I have uploaded pictures and/or videos from a CD/DVD directly to the software. Why do they not show when I opened the software the next day?
A: You need to upload the pictures to a file or folder on your computer first. Then upload them from your computer file/folder to the software.

Q: I have created galleries in all the sections (Grades, Events and Staff). How come I cannot see the galleries when I go to the Preview section?
A: Once you have created the galleries you have to upload pictures/video to all the galleries you created in order for them to show in the preview. If the first Gallery you create has no pictures in it none of the galleries will show in the preview.

Q: I have created 15 galleries in the Events section and need to add more. Why can I not see more than 12 of the galleries in the Preview section?
A: The software is limited to 12 Galleries per section. If you need more Galleries for the Events you can add up to 12 Galleries in the Grade section. You can then rename the Class 1, 2, 3, etc to the Event you need the gallery for.

Q: I cannot install the software. What should I do?
A: Firstly, you need to know if you have sufficient privileges and user rights to install software on your computer. This is the most common cause of installation problems. If this is not the problem try downloading the software again. Make sure that you delete the current setup file before starting the new download. If the software has already been installed and activated using your activation code you will not able to install another copy.

Q: How many times can I install the software?
A: The subscription license is for 1 computer. You will only be able to install and activate the software on one computer.

Q: How can we install multiple copies of the software?
A: The only solution is to purchase multiple subscriptions. If you require a large number of subscriptions contact Customer Support for assistance with volume licensing.

Q: I cannot activate the software. What do I do?
A: Make sure that you are using the correct product key (case sensitive, you must use capitols) and that the software has not been previously installed and activated.

Q: Can I burn a CD/DVD before I finish my yearbook project to see what it will look like?
A: No. If you burn a CD/DVD before you have completed your project you will not be able to go back and add more pictures or video. The best way to view your yearbook as you build it is to look at it through the Preview section of the software.

Q: Will my project files be deleted if I uninstall the software?
A: No. Your project files are not deleted when you uninstall the software. If you wish to remove your project files you will need to go into the Yearbook Alive Creator folder and delete them manually.

Q: Can I install the software on Windows Vista?
A: Currently the software supports Windows 2000 and Windows XP operating systems. There is a Windows Vista version being developed to be released in the future.

Q: Can I install the software on a Mac?
A: No. Yearbook Alive Creator has been designed exclusively for Microsoft Windows 2000 and XP operating systems. There is a Mac version being developed to be released in the future.

Q: I am having difficulty downloading the software. What should I do?
A: Most download problems are associated with local security settings on your computer or network. The Yearbook Alive Creator software is distributed as an executable file (.exe) which can be blocked by some firewalls. We suggest that you check your settings and/or contact your local administrator. Alternately, try downloading the software on another computer.

Q: When downloading the software should I “RUN” or “SAVE” the file?
A: Always “SAVE” the file to your hard drive. Never “RUN” the file. Problems can occur if you attempt to “RUN” the installation directly from download. Additionally, we strongly recommend that you backup your downloaded software to either CD, Flash Drive our other storage device.

Q: What should I do if my download is corrupted or shows an error?
A: Delete the copy that you have currently saved on your computer and begin the download again.

Q: Can I make a backup copy of the software?
A: Yes. We strongly recommend that you make a backup copy of the software. You should only have to download the software once. From that point on you can access the software from your backup copy.

Q: Can I purchase Yearbook Alive Creator over the phone, by check, money order or bank deposit?
A: Yes. All sales are processed in a variety of ways to suit your needs.

             Credit Card Orders:
  1. You can order through our website by E-Commerce provider PayPal. You do not need a PayPal account to order the Yearbook Alive Creator.
  2. You can call us at 604-277-1159 and pay by credit card. We will process the PayPal account order for you.

Q: Are my credit card details safe?
A: Yes. PayPal processes your payment directly using secure, encrypted data transfer methods. PayPal is one of the largest and most respected E-Commerce providers in the software industry.

Q: What will happen after I have made my payment?
A: When your payment has been processed and verified, you will receive two emails. The first email will be from PayPal. This will contain information about your purchase. The second email will come from Yearbook Alive Customer Support. This email will contain your activation code which you can input into the software to activate it. If you haven’t downloaded the trail version software you can do so after ordering.

Q: Can I activate the free trial version of the Yearbook Alive Creator.
A: Yes. You do not need to download the software again.  

Q: I didn’t receive my product key. What should I do?
A: Always use a reliable email address and make sure that you have entered the correct email address. If you think that you have not received your product key email after one day of making your purchase, check your bulk mail/spam/junk folder. This is almost always the cause of the problem. If you have not received the product key email after 24 hours, contact Customer Support through either email or phone call.
